The Role
The Environmental Manager may be based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters or can be remote. If a remote team member, then you will be required to be present in the Arlington office at least once a month. In this role you will manage the environmental aspects of project development for a portfolio of the company’s projects, including coordination within the company, working with environmental consultants and local, state, and federal agencies. The primary objective is to work with the Origination, Development, Engineering and Construction teams across the full project life cycle to bring projects through financing, into construction, and ultimately to successful commercial operation.
This role reports to the Director of Development.

The Senior Environmental Manager has the following duties and responsibilities:

· Gather relevant desktop and field data from third party consultants as required and/or as appropriate in order to analyze potential environmental impacts of a project (included but not limited to wetlands, cultural, threatened, and endangered species)
· Manage applications for environmental permits for projects in the development phase (local, state, and federal) and ensure compliance with issued development permits
· Provide support for applications for environmental permits for engineering and construction (local, state, and federal)
· Work with external environmental consultants, localities, and government agencies to secure abovementioned permits
· Support Merger and Acquisitions Teams in performing environmental due diligence for prospective project acquisition opportunities
· Support Origination Team in performing environmental due diligence to identify early red flags for prospective project leads
· Ensure appropriate documentation related to environmental permits and permit conditions are maintained and stored in relevant document storage area.
· Acting as subject matter expert to provide support to Zoning Permitting Managers during zoning permitting

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Expertise:

· Bachelor or master’s degree in related field (Environmental Science or Engineering)
· Minimum 5 years’ experience with a focus on environmental permitting; familiarity with
PBR preferred
· Familiarity with Virginia environmental regulations and permits is required
· Project and/or case management skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines
· Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office, Excel
· Strong technical communication skills for complex project reports and regulatory agency submittals
